Britney Spears Announces Engagement to Sam Asghary
Britney Spears Shows Off Her Diamond Engagement Ring
Days after her father filed a lawsuit to end the guardianship that has dominated her life for years, American pop singer Britney Spears, 39, announced her engagement to American-Iranian actor Sam Asghary, 27, in a lively video posted on her Instagram account showing off a diamond ring. "I can't believe it!" she wrote next to the video, with a ring symbol next to her words, according to The Guardian.
Asghary also posted a special photo of Spears showing her ring in front of the camera.

The news comes days after her father filed a lawsuit to end the court's guardianship, which has dominated the singer's life and money for 13 years, in which the pop star suffered from her father's control over her, her money and her movements.
An old relationship finally came to light.
Asghary's business manager, Brandon Cohen, confirmed that the fiancées had been in a relationship before. "The fiancées made their long-term relationship official today," Cohen told Reuters.
Forever Diamonds NY said in a statement that Spears' diamond ring is 4 carat. "Their journey together has affected people all over the world and we are very excited to be a part of them forever... We're happy to congratulate Britney and Sam on their last engagement."
First meeting.
The couple first met in Spears' Slumber Party video in 2016, when Asghary shared the video with her as a model, with the famous star choosing him to present the clip with her despite not being convinced of the work and wanting to play acting roles.
The long-running relationship between the media and their fans began, with Spears' ongoing crises with addiction treatment, guardianship and disagreement with her father.
Last June, the singer told the court that she wanted to marry Asghary and have a child with him during an impassioned appeal to end her father's guardianship, where - legally speaking - Spears could marry, but her father should have agreed as her guardian, as with other major life decisions.
Britney Spears and End Guardianship
Britney Spears' lawyer filed a petition at the end of July asking the court to drop her father's guardianship and prevent him from taking control of her property, alleging that he mismanaged his daughter's money and affairs and used guardianship for his own gain.
Her father then petitioned the Los Angeles Superior Court to terminate his custody of his 13-year-old daughter, saying in petition papers that he always wanted the best for his daughter, and if she could handle her own life and wanted to end his custody of her, he believed she deserved the opportunity.
Judge Brenda Penny is scheduled to hear the motion at a hearing on September 29th.
Previous marriages
Spears had previously married Kevin Federline, whom she shares with two boys, aged 14 and 15. She briefly married childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004.
